A former national security official told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace that the country could handle three more years of Trump, but it can’t handle seven. (see video below)
Wallace said, “One of the former national security officials I spoke to if we’re going to make it, he said the country can handle three more, it can’t handle seven. There is growing concern this is not a sustainable level of turnover. This is too much time for people who should be in charge of the military, in charge of our spy agencies, in charge of cyber command, they’re spending too much time dealing with chaos and drama and not doing their job.”
The people who are issuing these warning aren’t experts in the private sector. They are former government officials. These warning that you see in stories in The Washington Post, New York Times, and on CNN and MSNBC are coming from people who have been there. Trump’s need for chaos and drama is harming the country. It is preventing the people who keep the country safe from properly doing their jobs because every moment of every day with Donald Trump is an endless stream of chaos and drama.
As Trump gets rid of the adults in the room, people in national security and the military are going to bear the brunt of Trump’s chaos. The government can’t handle systemic upheaval and uncertainty in the Oval Office.
The individuals who are watching our national defenses strain under Trump are warning voters that in 2020, they must make a change because the biggest threat to national security is Donald Trump.
Patriots, THIS is soooo NOT good.
We educated, and continue to educate…armed with facts, direct quotes, evidence, video, eye-witness testimony…
We flatly reject the thinly veiled Liberalism that is passing as Trumpism, and some want to foist off as Conservatism, (NOTE: Trump, Trumpism, and Trump supporters are NOT Conservative one iota. Cambridge Analytica is in new Trump-Russia trouble, and the Mercers are making panic moves
When Facebook issued an unprecedented Friday night press release announcing that it had banned Trump campaign data analysis firm Cambridge Analytica, it was a sign that the social network was trying to get out ahead of what it knew or feared what was about to surface about the firm. Sure enough, the next day, the New York Times published an expose connecting Cambridge Analytica, and its financial backers Robert and Rebekah Mercer, to the Trump-Russia plot. Now even more dirt is being reported, and the Mercers are making panic moves.
Major British television network Channel 4 News is preparing to broadcast an expose of its own into Cambridge Analytica and the behavior that got it banned from Facebook in relation to the Trump-Russia scandal. Just how much new dirt has Channel 4 News uncovered? That’s not yet clear, but the network did send someone undercover to catch Cambridge Analytica’s CEO Alexander Nix speaking openly about how the firm really conducts business, which suggests it’s a doozy. So how is Cambridge Analytica responding? By attempting to block the expose from being aired.
The Financial Times is reporting that Cambridge Analytica is working behind the scenes to try to block the Channel 4 News broadcast of the undercover report (link). Nix lacks the influence to even try to pull this off, which means that it can only be the work of one or both of the Mercers, the billionaire father and daughter who control the company.
Soooo, big time, big dollar Trump supporters are DEEP into the Trump-Putin Treason Cabal. Wow! Who’d have thunk it? That one gaggle of rich traitors attracted another gaggle of rich traitors?!! Surprised I am…not.
My last entry in this write-up is this, a Twitter-Storm from a concerned, AND informed Twitter Patriot:
Here’s why firing #AndrewMcCabe is going to backfire on Donald Trump: 1. McCabe is a highly respected LE official. He will get his pension when a judge sees Trumps vindictive tweets.
2. When the subject of an investigation fires a witness out of spite, it strengthens the case.
3. Firing McCabe doesn’t stop the investigation.
4. There are still 35,000 FBI staff left. Firing McCabe in this way will only push them to work harder to investigate Trump.
5. Did I forget to mention other IC agencies? Yeah, expect more from them.
6. Trump can’t beat the IC.
7. Sessions passed this loyalty test, but he put himself in major legal jeopardy.
8. Mueller will just add this to his list of “Obstruction” and investigate.
9. McCabe planned for this (see how quickly his statement came out)? Dead man switch.
10. McCabe isn’t scared.
Bonus: This is a huge distraction from the Stormy Daniels case and the sh*t show that is the Trump White House. Don’t be distracted. Don’t lose focus. McCabe will be fine. Keep your eyes on the prize and don’t fall for this trick. – Mueller – Stormy Daniels – Cabinet
Fellow Patriots, Constitutional-Conservatives, Christians, and just plain concerned Citizens…let’s all pray that Mueller eradicates this cancer from America…SOON!
Former Congressman Tom Price was forced out as Secretary of Health and Human Services last September for spending thousands of taxpayers dollars on charter flights, and has repaid about $60,000 of that cost – but Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway, who tagged along on ten flights with Price, has gotten a free ride.
Congressman Elijah Cummings (D-MD), the ranking Democrat on the House Oversight Committee, wants to know why Conway has not been publicly chastised, repaid the cost of her travel, been fired or at least punished for doing the exact same thing that cost Price his job.
Papadopoulos told Mueller that Trump encouraged him to set up meeting with Putin
A new book by Yahoo News’ Michael Isikoff and Mother Jones’ David Corn being published today says that Donald Trump “personally encouraged” George Papadopoulos to arrange a summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.1
If true, this stunning revelation contradicts the public views of what happened at an important meeting with Trump and his foreign policy team on March 31, 2016.
Papadopoulos — who Trump called a “coffee boy” — was actually a foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign. After pleading guilty to lying to the FBI he has become a key cooperating witness in special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation.
This different view of what Papadopoulos told federal investigators before the election was reported in “Russian Roulette: The Inside Story of Putin’s War on America and the Election of Donald Trump,” by Isikoff and Corn.
MEANWHILE, IN OTHER NEWS…
Daily Mail just exposed the spy Trump tried to use to get to Russia
The layers of the onion are beginning to peel away in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the links between the Trump administration and the proven Russian interference in the president’s 2016 election.
In an exclusive report, the U.K.’s Daily Mail has learned new details about the meeting in the Seychelles between Trump envoy Erik Prince, the founder of the infamous Blackwater private militia and brother to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and Kirill Dmitriev, a Russian financier and oligarch close to the Kremlin.
As you may remember, the meeting, which Prince initially described in sworn testimony before the House Intelligence Committee as a meaningless chance encounter, was set up by Mohamed bin Zayed, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and the de-facto joint ruler of the United Arab Emirates. According to The Daily Mail, the crown prince brought two previously undisclosed colleagues with him to the meeting.
One, Hamad al Mazroie, is the de facto head of the UAE intelligence service, in effect the country’s top spymaster. The other, Mohammed Dahlan, is a Palestinian adviser to bin Zayed who is fluent in Russian and considered his personal emissary to the Kremlin.
Prince did not mention either man in his congressional testimony.

Trump fires Rex Tillerson, and picks CIA Director as his replacement
Mike Pompeo, Director of the CIA, will become our new Secretary of State. He will do a fantastic job! Thank you to Rex Tillerson for his service! Gina Haspel will become the new Director of the CIA, and the first woman so chosen. Congratulations to all!
According to the Washington Post, last Friday Trump asked Tillerson to step aside. Tillerson cut short his trip to Africa on Monday to return to Washington.
Pompeo will replace him at the State Department, and Gina Haspel—the CIA’S deputy director—will succeed him at the CIA, becoming the first woman to run the intelligence agency, if confirmed…
…Tillerson and Trump have had a tempestuous relationship throughout the president’s tenure, with published reports, denied by the secretary of State, that he had referred to Trump as a “moron.” The reports prompted Trump to challenge his secretary of State to an IQ test.
Trump thinks Tillerson is “too establishment” in his thinking, and reportedly felt it was important to make the change now, as he prepares for talks with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, as well as upcoming trade negotiations.
[MY NOTE: Yeah, it always “makes sense” to change horses in mid stream.]
Remember Sean Spicer, White House press secretary? He resigned after some testy encounters with the press. How about Hope Hicks, White House communications director? She resigned amid rising tensions in the administration. Then there’s “The Mooch”— otherwise known as Anthony Scaramucci. He was White House communications director for only 11 days before getting fired.
National Security Council staffer Rich Higgins? Booted. Staff secretary Rob Porter? Quit after allegations of domestic abuse.Omarosa? Resigned to return to her roots on reality television. If it seems like there’s been a ton of turnover at the White House, there has been. In fact, Trump’s White House has seen more turnover in its first year than the past five administrations. Is this cause for concern?
High staff turnover at the White House isn’t necessarily unusual. Newly inaugurated presidents often fill some spots in their administration with campaign staff and later replace them with more seasoned picks. But the sheer number of people leaving the Trump administration is unusual. According to Kathryn Dunn Tenpas, a nonresident senior fellow in governance studies at the Brookings Institution, the turnover at the Trump White House “is high, and it’s not just high, it’s off the charts.”
Tenpas compared turnover among the president’s most influential staff going back five administrations, “Since Reagan, the highest turnover rate during that first year was Ronald Reagan at 17 percent. [Trump’s] turnover rate during that first year was 34 percent. So he doubled the previous highest rate of turnover.” By comparison, the lowest rate of first-year turnover in a president’s first year was George W. Bush at 6 percent, while Obama had a turnover rate of 9 percent. So President Trump, with 34 percent, truly is extraordinarily high.
Rex Tillerson, after more than a year of semi-public feuding with President Donald Trump, has been fired.
He’s the 2nd top Trump White House official to either resign or be fired in the past week — following in the ignominious footsteps of top Trump economic adviser Gary Cohn. And Cohn’s departure followed hard on the resignations of White House communications director Hope Hicks and Josh Raffel, a confidante of Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump. Plus, Trump body man John McEntee was fired on Monday due to ongoing security clearance issues. And so was Steve Goldstein, the Under Secretary of Public Affairs at the State Department, who out out a statement Tuesday morning saying Tillerson was unaware of the reason he had been fired.
There’s any number of options, given that Trump has actively feuded with lots of his Cabinet since hand-picking them just over a year ago. Below, I’ve ranked a variety of embattled Trump Cabinet members based on their likelihood to be given the Rex treatment — aka fired via Twitter.
1. Jeff Sessions: Trump has publicly attack the attorney general repeatedly — calling him, among other things, “beleaguered” and “DISGRACEFUL.”He has told not one but two news organizations that he would not have appointed Sessions as AG if he knew Sessions would recuse himself in the Russia investigation. He refers to Sessions as “Mr. Magoo” in private settings, according to the Washington Post. I mean….
4. H.R. McMaster: Rumors of tension between the National Security Adviser and Trump have been rampant for months. There’s even been chatter about how to move McMaster back into the military in order to get him out of the White House. With Trump jettisoning Tillerson, might he move on another member of the more globally-minded wing of his foreign policy team?
7. Ben Carson: The Housing and Urban Development secretary purchased — and then canceled — a $31,000 dining set for his work office. Why isn’t he higher on this list?Because Trump likes him — and the two went through the political wars together in 2016. I think that counts for something — maybe a lot — in Trump’s book.
8. John Kelly: Reports are rampant that Kelly and Trump have fallen out, and that, as importantly, the White House chief of staff is in semi-open warfare with Ivanka.Kelly’s ham-handed handling of the Rob Porter debacle and the resultant news coverage clearly knocked him down several pegs in Trump’s eyes. And, Kelly was reportedly part of a “suicide pact” with Tillerson and Defense Secretary Jim Mattis — that if one left or was fired, they would all leave. Working against the idea of Kelly being fired: Trump loves “his” generals.
9. Betsy DeVos: The Education secretary has had a very rocky road. This weekend was the bumpiest bit yet as DeVos seemed totally out of her depth in an interview with “60 Minutes” Lesley Stahl.Trump hates negative headlines that he doesn’t cause. But, it seems like he has more urgent firing priorities than DeVos.
10. Jim Mattis: The “Mad Dog” is only on this list because of the aforementioned “suicide pact” with Tillerson and Kelly. That aside, he appears to be the Cabinet secretary who has clashed the least — or the least publicly — with Trump.

Kellyanne Conway in total shock after learning that her career is basicaly over
Well, well, well, look who just entered the spotlight to pay the price for her bias TV appearances. At the front end of Trump’s presidency, Kellyanne Conway was a staple on TV, pushing the Trump agenda to the masses primarily via Fox News. After her many blunders, including “alternative facts” and Ivanka’s free commercial, the Trump administration thought better of it, and now only dispatches her during its most desperate times.
However, Conway could be on her way out the door. The Office of Special Counsel (OSC) just charged Conway with two violations of the Hatch Act, which prohibits government officials from endorsing and advocating against political candidates.
The OSC demands “appropriate disciplinary action” for Conway. According to the violations, Conway violated the Hatch Act during an appearance on Fox & Friends and again on CNN’s New Day.

Document Found That Proves Trump/Russia Activity During Campaign, Trump Signed The Document
As you are well aware at this point, Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen and Felix Sater were both working on a plan to build Trump Tower in Moscow during the 2016 presidential election, proving Trump was in fact in business dealings with Putin while running for president. If Trump had any amount of deniability left, ABC News blew that out the window with their report.
ABC reports that Trump signed a letter of intent to build Trump Tower in Moscow four months into his presidential campaign. This means he was the one who was orchestrating the entire thing, or that very least he knew about it. He can no longer claim Cohen and Sater were working on their own, especially since Cohen is the one who threw him under the bus. ABC News reports:
Four months into his campaign for president of the United States, Donald Trump signed a letter of intent to pursue a Trump Tower–style building development in Moscow, according to a statement from the Trump Organization’s then–chief counsel, Michael Cohen.
The involvement of then-candidate Trump in a proposed Russian skyscraper deal contradicts repeated statements Trump made during the campaign, including telling ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that his business had “no relationship to Russia whatsoever.”
The disclosure from Cohen, who has described himself as Trump’s personal lawyer, came as Cohen’s attorney gave congressional investigators scores of documents and emails from the campaign, including several pertaining to the Moscow development idea.
Cohen is now cooperating with investigators and he is handing over key details. Cohen is confirming that there were at least three separate conversations about this plan for Trump Tower. Cohen is Trump’s longtime attorney, but clearly attorney-client privilege didn’t help Trump with this one. Now, Cohen has his own attorney and it’s clear he’s trying to protect himself.
The New York Times is reporting that Cohen reached out to Putin through his spokesman to make this deal happen. As the key communicator, we can only image what other details and proof he has on Trump.
LASTLY, FROM THE “WHAT?!!!” TO THE HILARIOUS-
Jim Bakker: We ‘must obey Trump’ because he was chosen by God
Jim Bakker recently encouraged his audience to send thank you cards to Trump for recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, and moving the U.S. embassy there1. (See video below)
[NOTE: DT has NOT and will NOT do any such thing. IF he does he WILL initiate WWIII in it’s full FIRE AND FURY.]
“I want everybody to write him a note and thank him for what he did,” Bakker said, claiming that the White House says that Trump loves getting praise from Christians. Bizzaro Santa Claus then said it was Christian Prayers that fuels Trump.
“It’s the power behind him, the prayers behind him,” Bakker said. “He’s wanting the prayers of the people. You know, people say, ‘Well, I don’t think he’s a godly man.’ Well, I’ll tell you what, he loves prayer, he loves God, he doesn’t want to murder any more babies in our country. Come on. Let’s give God a chance and God had him elected and the Bible says He puts up—God—and puts down the leaders. So we better obey our leaders and live under them in peace.”
[MY NOTE ON THIS: From one con man who committed fraud, lied, and adultery praising another guilty of the same, and we’re to accept and obey this because a heretic amd blasphemer tells us too. But…what does THE GOD OF THE BIBLE REALLY SAY?
Hosea 8:1-8King James Version (KJV)
8 Set the trumpet to thy mouth. He shall come as an eagle against the house of the Lord, because they have transgressed my covenant, and trespassed against my law.
2 Israel shall cry unto me, My God, we know thee.
3 Israel hath cast off the thing that is good: the enemy shall pursue him.
4 They have set up kings, but not by me: they have made princes, and I knew it not: of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.
5 Thy calf, O Samaria, hath cast thee off; mine anger is kindled against them: how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?
6 For from Israel was it also: the workman made it; therefore it is not God: but the calf of Samaria shall be broken in pieces.
7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up.
8 Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
The Lord God NO more choose Trump than HE did Obama, or Clinton, or Nixon…
We the People chose these lewd, Liberal, wicked rulers.
And to see what The Lord God of The Bible WILL DO to us because of OUR choices see
Just Before I Blocked These Deluded, Demented, and Depraved LibNuts I Copied And Pasted Their Mindless, Dead-Wrong Blather HERE…With Loads-O-Refutation.
I will break this down piece-by-piece as we go….buckle-up, it’ll be a bumpy ride.
[ NOTE: Notice IMMEDIATELY the misnomer, these Marxist Moon-Bats claim to be Conservatives. Here’s their email they sent ME!!!]
Fellow Conservative: [NOTE: I AM a Biblical-Christian and Constitutional-Conservative. You are NOT. YOU support and protect a mindless, principle-less, moralless, LIFE-LONG NY Liberal. Hence I am NOT your “fellow Conservative” due to the aforementioned FACT that YOU are NOT Conservative.]
I will make this short and get right to the point.
The Democrats hate our president and are motivated to defeat him and his agenda. [NOTE: So are ALL TRUE, REAL, CONSTITUTIONAL-CONSERVATIVES. YOU picked and backed a Liberal Loser…DEAL WITH IT!] If conservatives don’t rise up right now [NOTE: Conservatives HAVE ALREADY risen up- IN OPPOSITION OF THE NY Liberal, Donnie Trump.] and begin a massive campaign to promote our candidates and turn out our voters in the midterms, we will lose in a wipeout that defeats many of our strongest conservatives heroes. [NOTE: 1. YOU should have thought about THAT BEFORE supporting a NY Liberal, 2) YOU are NOT “Conservative Heroes”- YOU ARE Spineless ZEROES!]
That’s why we are launching a campaign to raise $1 million in the month of March to support conservative candidates. [NOTE: YOU “think” (and I use the term think loosely with YOU) that DT is a Conservative…YOU are NOT “Conservative candidates”.]
We’re calling this our MILLION DOLLAR MARCH MADNESS [NOTE: Rip-off other’s ideas much?]challenge. It’s the biggest single fundraising drive we have ever undertaken and to many, it may look like madness. But we know it’s essential for conservatives [NOTE: YOU support DT, YOU do NOT know what Conservatism IS.] to achieve victory this year and we know we can reach this goal with your generous support.
Please help us defeat the liberals [NOTE: IF YOU wanted to “defeat the Liberals” YOU would NOT support and defend Trump, a LIFE-LONG NY LIBERAL.] who want to spend trillions of dollars we don’t have, flood our country with millions of illegal immigrants, control our health care decisions, take away our guns, [NOTE: Hello!!! Trump wants and IS doing all that too, you idiots! Trump is keeping and funding Obamacare, Welfare, Planned Parenthood, IS FOR over a year of tax-payer paid maternity, parental, and family leave; DT is FOR tariffs, FOR a $15.00 an hour minimum wage, OH, and wants to grab guns, THEN pursue due process!!! THAT IS NOT CONSERVATIVE!! NOR are YOU!!] and force us to pay for abortions on demand [NOTE: DT SUPPORTS abortion. DT IS funding Obamacare AND Planned Parenthood! Crikey! YOU Marxist LOONS are 100% irrelevant!].
Will you fill one of these spots? [NOTE: NO! And NO REAL Conservative will!]
Every dollar you donate will get us closer to our goal and if you make your donation to SCF automatically repeat each month, it will be counted eight times toward our goal.
There are eight months until the November elections and your monthly pledge in March will help us make our spending plans for the rest of the election cycle. [NOTE: YOU morons dug YOUR OWN GRAVE by YOUR defend-n-deflect support and protection of Trump…DO IT ON YOUR OWN YOU LIBERAL LOSERS!!!]
CHANGE ONE WORD. CHANGE “REPUBLICAN” TO CONSERVATIVE, OH, BTW, REAGAN WAS OUR LAST CONSERVATIVE PRESIDENT.
Lastly, Trump said BOTH of the following on THE SAME DAY one year apart…some “anniversary”!!
There’s a lot of talk going on about Trump and his cabal of Putin-Pals, Hard-Core Liberals, White-Nationalists, Protectionists, and general morons, mooks, and Knuckle-Walking, Drool-Monkeys. A lot of rumor, speculation, and out of context guessing.
THIS will NOT follow that pattern. Nope. What we WILL do is look at WHAT WE ACTUALLY KNOW ABOUT “TRUMP & GANG”, BEGINNING WITH Trumps ACTUAL voting record and who Trump REALLY supported financially…THIS IS REALITY, NOT RHETORIC:
VOTED FOR JIMMY CARTER- TWICE
VOTED FOR WALTER MONDALE
VOTED FOR BILL CLINTON- TWICE

ALL OF THE ABOVE IS ABSOLUTELY TRUE…
I ISSUE THE CHALLENGE TO EVERY TRUMP-SUPPORTER TO SHOW ME HOW:
1) any of that IS Conservative,
2) how YOU can be truly Conservative and support THAT.
Now, The New Stuff.
Republicans Gobsmacked by Trump’s Gun Control Comments
The president suggested gun confiscation could come before due process in a televised bipartisan meeting with members of Congress. Republican senators disagreed.
During a televised bipartisan meeting to discuss gun control proposals with members of Congress on Wednesday, President Donald Trump split with conventional Republican wisdom and suggested that guns be confiscated from individuals who could pose safety threats before due process is carried out under the law.
Nebraska Republican Ben Sasse issued a statement rebuking those comments Wednesday night. “We’re not ditching any Constitutional protections simply because the last person the president talked to today doesn’t like them,” Sasse wrote.
FROM OTHER QUARTERS…
Trump’s Sudden Love of Gun Control Isn’t That Sudden
Hello, March. I guess we know it’s coming in like a lion. Making the click-through worthwhile: a volcanic rant about the president’s statements at the White House meeting with lawmakers on gun violence and some cheerful economic news to balance it out.
For at Least a Day, Trump Suddenly Decides He Loves Gun Control
My memories of the NRA Annual Meeting in Louisville, Ky., in May 2016 were mostly happy ones, and not merely because it was held in Bourbon Wonderland. But I do remember sitting with Charlie Cooke in a mix of mild surprise and bemusement as the organization enthusiastically endorsed Donald Trump, earlier than it had ever endorsed a presidential candidate before…
…But Donald Trump, a Manhattan real-estate mogul who had traveled with his own personal security for years, had never really been a “gun guy.” He says he has a concealed carry permit (hard to get in New York state). In his 2000 book, The America We Deserve, he wrote, “I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun.”
The NRA traditionally declined to endorse candidates that supported policies like that, and the group rarely was credulous about conveniently timed changes in position. An endorsement that touted Trump as a longtime defender of the Second Amendment just wouldn’t be accurate. NRA officials Wayne LaPierre and Chris Cox did the best they could, speaking extensively about the menace that Hillary Clinton represented, and then touting Trump as . . . well, not Hillary…
…Even in his remarks accepting the endorsement, Trump made comments that suggested he found owning a lot of guns . . . kind of worrisome. “My sons are members,” Trump declared. “They have so many rifles, so many guns, that even I get concerned. I say, ‘That’s a lot!’” The crowd greeted that admission with what can best be described as polite silence…
…But Wednesday we learned that the Trump White House . . . might not be all that different from the Clinton White House on guns after all. During a meeting with Vice President Pence and senior senators . . .
Trump endorsed the Assault Weapons Ban.
Trump endorsed background checks for private sales at gun shows.
Trump endorsed raising the age to purchase firearms to 21. [ME: NO other president has advocated that, NOT Carter, NOT Clinton, NOT even Obama.]
Trump declared the top priority of the NRA since Trump’s election, concealed-carry reciprocity, “will never pass.”(This bill would ensure that if you have a valid concealed-carry permit in your home state, you are allowed to carry a concealed weapon in any state.)
Trump contended members of Congress were “petrified of the NRA” and that he was not. “They have great power over you people. They have less power over me.” [ME: Yeah, because you’re a lying, Liberal DEMOCRAT In the Republican Party.]
Finally, Trump contradicted his own vice president’s assurances about due process and basically contended that the government should seize firearms from people it deems dangerous and go back and get legal justification later…
…This is the sort of comment that might have started armed standoffs with law enforcement had it been uttered by President Obama. Had a Democratic president proposed this — literally grabbing guns without legal cause! — the fury from the NRA would have been hotter than a thousand suns going supernova.
The organization’s issued statement yesterday was . . . milder.
“While today’s meeting made for great TV, the gun control policies discussed would make bad policy that wouldn’t keep our children safer,” said Jennifer Baker, a spokeswoman for the NRA’s lobbying arm. “We are going to continue to work to pass policies that might actually prevent another horrific tragedy.”
…I’d argue that Trump’s epic flip-flop is a demonstration of why conservatives are fools to turn over the power of government to any candidate who hasn’t been fighting the good fight for a long time, and who can’t demonstrate a grasp of key policy details. “Outsider” is turning into a euphemism for “a candidate who can’t be bothered to do his homework.”…Every time Trump gives a rambling, contradictory, vague answer on some important topic, his defenders jump up and insist, “Oh, he doesn’t get bogged down in the weeds, and that doesn’t really matter because his instincts are sound.” No, they’re not! Someone with sound instincts on the Second Amendment doesn’t go out and say the things that Trump said Wednesday…
…At what point are the president’s supporters willing to hold him accountable for his own statements and actions? Even if you believe there’s some sinister Iago whispering in his ear, at what point will you stop excusing him for listening to Iago?
(THREAD) In America, if you know an employee who you have the power to fire or punish is a witness in a pending criminal investigation—and you angrily berate them for giving truthful testimony in a mid-probe interview with the intent to change their future testimony—it’s a CRIME.
1/ Earlier today, the White House used the New York Times to spread disinformation about Hope Hicks’ resignation. The cover story was that it had “nothing to do” with her questioning by Congress and that her decision to leave had been made “months” earlier. Then CNN said “weeks.”
2/ Now CNN is reporting that Hicks made the decision to resign after she was berated by President Trump for her *truthful* testimony—under penalty of prosecution—before Congress. She testified—*truthfully*—that on occasion she had told “white lies” to protect Trump’s interests.
3/ “How could you be so *stupid*?” Trump is reported to have said to her—apparently with such force and a desire to confront that, per CNN, it was the proximate (if admittedly not the only) cause of her resigning her position. If true, this puts Trump in *new legal jeopardy*.
4/ In context, there is simply no reasonable possibility that Trump was berating Hicks for (in his view) *lying*. You wouldn’t say “How could you be so *stupid*?” if what you were doing was complaining that someone had maliciously made up a lie about—well—*lying to protect you*.
5/ No—what Trump was doing was berating a subordinate who he knew was a witness in a pending criminal investigation (an investigation in which he is a target) for *telling the truth* about having had to lie for him on occasion. This is a textbook case of felony witness tampering
6/ Trump’s intent is established by his knowledge that Hicks was a potential witness against him; that her truthful testimony hurt him; his tone and words in speaking to Hicks; by the obvious—powerful—effect their force and anger had on her; and by bare common sense as to motive.
7/ It’s further established by it being a modus operandi for Trump to contact witnesses in the case against him and express whatever his feelings were/are about their cooperation/non-cooperation in an investigation in which he was/is a target. Like telling Flynn to “stay strong.”
8/ I’ve worked witness tampering cases. I never represented a poor person who wouldn’t be charged with Witness Tampering on these facts—in large part because of the position of power Trump wields with respect to Hicks and his words/tone in speaking to her of *truthful* testimony.
9/ Remember: Trump has been *instructed* by an *army of top criminal defense attorneys* to *never* have *any* conversation with *any* witness in the pending federal criminal investigation now targeting him. He *literally shouldn’t have opened his mouth* to Hicks on this topic.
10/ In this context, expect Mueller to now speak to Hicks a second time, as she now becomes a witness in a new Obstruction and/or Witness Tampering investigation (“intimidation” sub-clause). I said long ago that if Trump didn’t restrain himself he’d dig a deeper hole—and he has.
President Trump reportedly berated former White House communications director Hope Hicks the day before her resignation, according to a new report.
CNN’s Erin Burnett reported Wednesday that Trump was angry with Hicks following her closed-door testimony to the House Intelligence Committee, in which she reportedly revealed she was sometimes required to tell “white lies” as part of her work in the White House.
Burnett reported one of Trump’s “close allies” told CNN that Trump asked Hicks after her testimony “how she could be so stupid.”
“Apparently, that was the final straw for Hope Hicks,” Burnett said.
NOTE/ To be clear, the reason we know—and Trump knew—he was berating Hicks for truthful rather than false testimony is it would have been a statement against Hicks’ own self-interest (a category of testimony recognized in law) for Hicks to claim to be a liar when she was/is not.
Hopefully, Hope’ll come clean with Mueller, flip on the Trumps and get her life back. Her attraction to malignantly narcissistic misogynists led her down the road to potential criminality: Lewandowski, Porter and worst of all, Trump. She’s young and deserves a break.
Book publishers have already begun contacting White House communications director Hope Hicks to obtain the rights to her memoir upon her exit from the Trump administration, the British tabloid Daily Mail reported Thursday.
The 29-year-old longtime Trump aide could be expected to make up to $10 million from an advance to a book deal and is actively being contacted by movie and TV producers as well, the Mail reported.
“Next to Ivanka and Melania, Hope is the woman closest to the president,” one publishing executive told the Mail. “[She] knows all the secrets, all the foibles, all the quirks.”
One White House insider also told the website that Hicks reportedly kept a “detailed diary” of her interactions and time in the White House, a resource that could be a major asset if she plans to write a memoir.
My latest for the @washingtonpost. “We kissed conservatism goodbye when we let Trump lead the GOP”
When you let a closet Democrat like Trump lead the GOP, this is what you get
He can’t defend traditional, conservative Republican positions when he doesn’t know what they are.
By, Rick Wilson, a Republican consultant and a Daily Beast columnist.
In a White House meeting Wednesday, President Hillary Clinton expressed a willingness to ban assault weapons, tweaked Republicans for being afraid of the National Rifle Association and mused aloud about bypassing due process to seize firearms.
My bad. That was President Trump.
Wednesday’s Cabinet Room gun control roundtable left gun-rights advocates, NRA members and rank-and-file conservatives (the few of us left, anyway) aghast that Trump not only isn’t who he claimed to be on the campaign trail — we already knew he holds almost no firm political convictions — but that what passes for a Republican policy proposal in his administration is up for grabs and that his most loyal followers don’t really seem to care. The whole thing prompted normally Trumpist Breitbart News to run a “Trump The Gun Grabber” headline, but that hand-wringing is too little, too late, and unlikely to further cool Trump’s lukewarm approval ratings. Trump’s underwater overall but still enjoying robust support among “Republicans.”…
…As a longtime GOP consultant, I’ve always had a half-joking, half-serious rule about political candidates and elected officials: They can be tough, smart, decent or talented, but of those traits, they realistically only get to choose two. Trump, entirely sui generis in our politics, is a successful politician embodying none of those. He’s poorly briefed, malleable, crass and dishonest, and all he cares about is how he comes across in the press. Which makes it damn-near impossible for any self-respecting conservative to understand him, anticipate his positions or trust him on policy….
…In every legislative fight, the president is a weak ally and an unreliable narrator. Except for tax cuts — the easiest thing in the world to sell (who doesn’t want a bigger paycheck?) — he can’t sell what he doesn’t understand, and that’s a lot.
Over the course of his life and career, from guns, to health care, to abortion, to the Iraq War, to whether the federal government’s monthly employment numbers are “phony,” Trump hasn’t been even close to the get-it-done, never-back-down, super negotiator of his own daydreams. As near as I can tell, his deepest convictions are that the best steak is an overcooked one and that there’s nothing that doesn’t look better with his name, in all-caps, appended to it.
He’s a gun-grabber today. Give him a day or two, and he might think about grabbing something else.
“We kissed conservatism goodbye when we let Trump lead the GOP”
There ya have it…sooner or later this is all going to blow up like a M-80 in a crap filled toilet…
We REAL Conservatives warned-
You #TrumpTrolls ignored/rejected everything as “fake news”…let me repeat: WHAT YOU CALL “FAKE NEWS” IS DAILY BEING PROVEN TRUE!
